Oh you've got to go get a safe? As you show up it gets dropped to the bottom of a chasm. Your objective will somehow, some way usually get affected in such a way as to make the mission longer or harder. However my main gripe with the game and it is one of only few, is that it goes back to the same well quite often.
They play around with game mechanics and keep missions feeling pretty fresh and non-repetitive. Your nemesis Handsome Jack gets most of the best lines but Claptrap and Hammerlock are also always good for a laugh. I would consider this one of the funniest games I've played in a while and it's all from the dialogue. The writing gets a relatively bad rap amongst its community from what I can tell but personally I loved it. It's this zany, off the wall approach to everything it touches that makes it the game it is and it all works superbly. It isn't trying to be serious, doesn't want to be serious and as such knows the tone it is going for exactly. This is a game where a grenade can peel off into 8 other homing grenades upon explosion, a game where pistols fire rockets and assault rifles fire at absurd rates. The characters are all intentionally absurd, the enemies even more so but thats all part of its charm. That's not to say the story isn't there, its a decent narrative but in all fairness the game pretty much openly admits that its all about looting and killing. The thrill of looting a legendary weapon (even if it then reveals itself to actually suck or not suit your playstyle whatsoever) is top notch and incredibly addictive. There is an absolutely dizzying amount of things to unlock in this game and thats the carrot to chase that keeps you playing on and on and on. The game functions entirely around the acquisition of Loot.
I'd tried several times to get into the series and gotten perhaps 6 hours or so into BL2 before giving up and trying something else but this time it sunk its teeth into me and I'm currently around 45 hours in with no sign of letting up. *Played as part of The Handsome Collection* Borderlands 2 is one of the most addictive games my personal life has had the misfortune of *Played as part of The Handsome Collection* Borderlands 2 is one of the most addictive games my personal life has had the misfortune of competing against recently.
